When I think back to the time I fell in love with photography, I remember it clearly. My parents, sister, and I were on a trip to Colorado and when we arrived in the Centennial State my parents gave each of us two point-and-shoot film cameras. They showed us how to keep track of the frames and cautioned us to be mindful of how many frames we had left in hopes that we would not use up all of our fames in one day. Despite their best efforts...I'm pretty sure I used up 90% of my film during the short drive to our hotel. I remember winding up the film, rolling down my window, and hearing the click of the shutter as I pressed down on the magical button that promised to leave the awe-inspiring, snow covered mountains frozen in time. The mountains were bigger, and less climbable, than the developing Stone-Creek subdivision dirt piles, and I was eager to capture as many of them as I could; hoping I would be able to carry them with me forever. The mountains of Colorado are what lead me to falling in love with photography and to this day nature plays an integral part in my life and photography. I am drawn to the similarities between humanity and nature - both bold, soft, resilient, and ever changing - and I hope to capture that connection through my photographs and that you can find a sense of peace, resilience, and understanding in them too.
